New web page on future vision

A new page has just been added to the Vision section of the website. The 'future development' page looks ahead to how the ministry behind this website can be helped to grow.

Local groups launch

A new page has been added to the site today listing the UK Church Administrator Network's new local groups. This is a new structure for UCAN, with authorised groups of Administrators for a town, an area or for certain specialisms.

Practical help for referees

Help is at last on hand for everyone asked to write a job reference for a friend or colleague. The latest Training Notes on this website, published today, give detailed, practical advice on this tricky task.

Distance learning course for Church Administrators

One of John's latest writing projects is a distance learning module written on behalf of the UK Church Administrator Network for St John's College, Nottingham. Details have been announced today.

How to help people come back to church

Another major new article was uploaded to the Resources section of the site today, one that tackles ideas that are often overlooked.

Helping people back to church (Article A31) considers not the human aspects of a welcome ministry but the ideas of presence in the local community, helping people get into your church building and letting the surroundings speak positive messages to a visitor.

All resources regularly updated

There are over 100 different items in the Resources section of the website and the aim is to check and update every one within two years of its last update. This is one of the benefits of web publishing and means that every item is in a current form.

Website growth leads to improvement plans

The website in its current design is soon to celebrate its third birthday and plans are currently being made for a number of developments later this year.  To give some idea of growth in that time, 25 free items for downloading and printing have been added to the Resources section, circulation of the bimonthly resources e-letters has tripled from 600 to over 1,800 and Church Administrator membership has more than doubled from under 400 to over 800.

How to write for the press

A new set of Training Notes uploaded to the website today encourages churches to write columns for their local newspapers whenever such opportunities are offered. TN75, Writing for the media, takes a case study of a weekly column in a free St Albans newspaper.

Over 500 Twitter followers and rising

15th May 2013

The two Twitter feeds associated with this site now have over 500 followers between them. This is still a fraction short of the 37 million who follow Lady Gaga but we are on the way!
