If, like many in churches, you can use a computer but make no claim to be an IT expert, you need a simple listing of the key security issues you should be aware of to keep your computer safe. Here it is!

  1. Protect computer and files
  2. Always use a firewall
  3. Install anti-virus software
  4. Back-up key files
  5. Update software and hardware
  6. Protect against spyware
  7. Expect fraudulent and hoax emails
  8. Deal with spam
  9. Understand website and PC security
  10. Secure wireless networks.

There are sources given for further advice but the basics are all here under these ten headings.
