Synopsis

This is the first part of a double article which looks at church offices in six distinct ways. This first part examines the office as the church's:

  • reception point - covering three reception messages, the design of the area, training, safety and more;
  • communications hub - five types of message that come through the office and their implications;
  • staff shield - the perspectives of Minister, office and users and how the office serves the staff.

The second part in Article A34 studies the office as the church's

  • community interface
  • volunteers' base
  • administrative work-station.

Both parts provide principles to consider, ideas to check, examples to assess and questions to answer.  The second part can then be accessed here.
