Synopsis

This article seeks to introduce and explore the concept of agreements between churches or mission agencies and those who work for them, whether staff or volunteers. It may be read alongside Article A6 on job descriptions.

1: Employed staff
The meaning of a contract of employment – the written statement – changes in the law – what the statement needs to include

2: Volunteers
The meaning of ‘volunteer’ – agreements for volunteers – other paperwork – the danger of overkill

3: Practical examples and references
A worked example for an employee – an expectations paper for a voluntary member of a church’s Newcomer Team - updated references for further details at August 2013
