I'm a new boy here so please forgive me if I tread on any toes!

I've been working with
some CofE churches on vision and strategy. A question which comes up often is
"How will we know if we are making progress towards our vision".

In the commercial world, we'd be looking at Performance Indicators (PIs) ... measures which we can review monthly or even more frequently and which will tell us how we are doing.

I'd welcome any ideas on what to measure and how.

Hi Charles,

This is a great question and something which we have only really grappled with through relating vision to targets and goals at appraisal time. In my experience, although this is challenging (and we certainly don't get it right all the time) we have managed to set ministry targets which are reviewed annually - which I guess are the nearest we get to KPIs. I think there's much more we could do though and so if you get any further with this, I hope you'll share any ideas!

Don't hesitate to e-mail me olivia@christchurchclifton.org.uk if yo'd like to chat further.

Best wishes,
Olivia.
