What can be done to provide practical training in basic administration for Ministers at theological/Bible colleges and in continuing ministerial education? Or should we be shielding them more from this by providing gifted people, whether paid or voluntary, to release them for their priority ministry?

I think Time Management is a vital skill for anyone in a busy role - regardless of what that role is. Ministers need to be trained in this - even if they think they think they have already got it sorted - we can all still learn. Ihad always presumed that this is included in ministerial training - if not - it needs to be, along with the more "expected" themes of preaching, teaching, pastoral etc. Even having a church administrator doesn't take all admin away from the minister/Leadership. Quite. And time management applied to working from home rather than an office or factory too!

It's interesting to note that Youth Workers receive far more training than Clergy in these matters, and yet the Youth Worker usually ends up with a member of the Clergy as their line manager.

Time Management skills are essential for all levels of leaders and workers in the church or christian ministries. When we fail to plan we are indeed planning to fail. Time is one of the greatest asset and resource available to us all to achieve our destiny. Our entire life is made up of seconds, minutes and hours. And when it is being wasted lifves and destinies are wasted.
